A SAFER, MORE FAMILY-FRIENDLY BIKING EXPERIENCE

Co-Pilot

Problem

Biking apps offered today are catered to athletes. But what about the every day person who commutes to the same locations or rides for leisure with family? How would the biking experience change if there was an app that fulfilled the average commuter-biker's needs?

Solution

Co-Pilot is a safer, more family-friendly biking experience that prioritizes convenience and safety for commuter-biker's needs. This is a project not just about the journey of a biker, but also the journey of a newbie designer carrying out a project brief from sketch to wireframe to final mock-up.

What I Did

  • Develop brand identity and elements, organized in process book: mood boards, simple logo, brand style guide, style tiles, icons.

  • Design for mobile, website, apple watch: produce UI mockups and flows, experience maps

THE CO-PILOT FORMULA FOR
FAMILIES AND COMMUTERS =
FUN + SIMPLE + CASUAL + SAFE

Co-Pilot was to be the opposite
of STRAVA's very industrial,
very serious-biker visual brand

FROM COMPLEX TO SIMPLE

Experience Map from initiation and end of the user experience. It doesn't look much different from the typical biking app experience, but the emphasis is totally different. Stats are interesting and important, but for commuters it is more convenient to look at them later as opposed to right away. A look at my mobile mock-up below may shed more light on this reasoning.

Flow 1. From a new user's awareness of app to set-up and during ride.

Flow 2: A seasoned user's projected flow of scheduling and use.
